Western Medical Group follows the DOT guidelines as set forth by the federal government to assure that you can operate a truck or school bus safely. We will test vision and hearing as well. A urine drug test may or may not be required.
BE ADVISED THAT THE DOT HAS ENACTED STRCTER REQUIREMENTS FOR CDL DRIVERS FOR RENEWALS & NEW ISSUANCE
The mandatory DOT physical takes into account a CMV driver’s physical, mental, and emotional conditions. The drivers must also carry a current copy of their medical examination certificate.
Employees who are renewing their commercial driver’s license or those who are getting a new license must be aware that:
Start early – do not wait until the last days before your permit expires as
the new procedures may take longer than before. We recommend 3-4 weeks
before expiration as there may be delays.
Bring a valid picture ID
If the driver has any previous medical condition(s) they must:
- List all medical conditions on the questionnaire
- Bring all prescribed and over-the-counter medications to the DOT physical
- Bring all lab and test results from their physician
- Bring a signed doctors note from their physician stating that they are fit and approved to operate a commercial vehicle.
