Medical Surveillance/Hazardous Materials/Respiratory Physicals
Workers engaging in tasks that potentially expose them to toxins, either chemical or biological, may require annual medical surveillance physicals and/or respiratory evaluations as directed by OSHA. These examinations are generally performed either yearly or every other year for firefighters, police, chemical operators and other workers.
We examine the patient and their blood and urine as well as respiratory function to verify that:
- There are no medical conditions that could be made worse by exposure to certain agents.
- The worker is physiologically capable of wearing a respirator, including under environmentally stressful conditions and as an overall review of the worker’s general health, including blood pressure, cholesterol, obesity, blood sugar, etc.
